Sculptural commission for East Dunbartonshire Leisure Council. A community research-led project on the theme of ‘water’. This work was the result of an exploration into the industrial heritage of the town of Milngavie’s river Allander.
This series of waymarkers feature the names of 6 everyday women who worked in various local industries along the Allander water. The vernacular cottage-shaped sandstone tops are a subtle reference to the material that was quarried here to build the early homes for the mill workers.
